Academy-award winning director Bong Joon-Ho made a genre-bending
adaptation of Jacques Lob & Jean-Marc Rochette’s Le
Transperceneige, AKA “Snowpiercer: The Escape,” and the result
is really something to behold. In episode 144, join Luke & James as
they climb aboard and discuss both the nihilistic source and the
high-octane adaptation.
Movie discussion begins: 33:26
Topics Include: the translation of an important French comic, the
merits of a black & white art style, Mama the synthetic meat
monster, the hopeless absurdity of existence on display, Bong
Joon-Ho’s impressive filmography, a taste of Korean film, the pros
and cons of Chris Evans as Curtis Everett, how plot holes are
beside the point, the cutting of the fish lie, Luke’s “Kronole
theory,” more than just a critique of capitalism, and a final vote
on which was better: the book or the movie.
